Quantum technology

for business leaders who need to decide if, where and how quantum matters for their organization — and what to do about it in the next 12 months.

Quantum isn't a 2035 problem.

Post-quantum cryptography deadlines are already set. Pilot programs are live in pharma, finance, logistics and defence. Waiting until "it's ready" means your competitors will have a five-year head start — and your encrypted data may already be in someone's archive, waiting to be broken.

Is quantum relevant to my business?

You don't need a PhD to answer that. Three questions will tell you.

  • Do you hold data that needs to stay secret for 10+ years?

Contracts, IP, personal records, national security material. If yes, you have a post-quantum problem to plan for today — not in five years.

  • Do you run complex optimization or simulation?

Supply chains, portfolio allocation, molecular discovery, materials design, route planning. These are the workloads where quantum is closest to producing real value.

  • Do you depend on ultra-precise measurement or navigation?

GPS-denied environments, medical imaging, subsurface exploration, brain scanning. Quantum sensors already outperform classical — and they're shipping now.

Answered yes to any of them? You may want to keep reading.

Five quantum technologies.

Five very different business conversations.

Q1 · Quantum Computing Solves problems classical computers can't. Optimization, machine learning, cryptanalysis and chemistry are the frontier. Still early — the right question is when to start piloting, not if.

2 · Quantum-Safe Security Protects your data against the quantum threat — today, not later. Post-quantum cryptography, crypto-agility, migration planning. Already standardized by NIST; this is a program management problem, not a research one.

3 · Quantum Communications Physically secures data transfer using quantum key distribution and quantum networks. Relevant today for finance, defence and critical infrastructure; infrastructure still building out.

4 · Quantum Sensing & Metrology The most mature of the five. GPS-free navigation, next-generation medical imaging, materials inspection, ultra-precise timing. Already shipping commercially.

5 · Quantum Simulation Models molecules, materials and quantum systems that classical methods can't touch. Pharma, batteries, catalysis, advanced materials — the field where quantum is closest to clear industrial value.

Next Steps

01 · Learn

  • Use this site to understand what quantum technologies are about and the different areas that could impact or benefit your business

  • Finally (once you have an idea of the quantum areas that your business could benefit from), access our Resources page, for a deeper dive and greater understanding of those areas that can impact your organization. There is extensive reading material for each area.

    • Do not delay further than two to four weeks (choose your reading material wisely, or you can spend years reading up on quantum!)

02 · Assess

  • Now you are ready to hold serious conversations about quantum

  • Structured review of where quantum could — and could NOT — help you. Concrete use cases, honest maturity scoring, prioritised shortlist.

  • Four to six weeks - this does not include selecting a quantum-versed partner in your areas of interest, if needed

03 · Pilot

  • Define a small, measurable pilot with the right partner (hardware vendor, software framework, research lab). Make them answer tough, specific questions. Three to six months.

04 · Implement

  • From pilot to production or, sometimes, to a clean "not yet — revisit in ‘n’ months" decision. Either outcome is a win if it's well-informed.
